Keep on writing,
Lindsey
Hey guys! So I've found a lot of my #LRBHelpfultips from Pintrest recently! Not going to lie, Pintrest is pretty addicting and has a lot of good ideas. This week's #LRBHelpfultip is to pay special attention to how you phrase things. Describing a specific emotion or setting can be the difference between a great paragraph and an average one. Do you want to be great or average? To be great you have to give lots of detail and describe things in a realistic way. The picture is a chart I found on Pintrest that provides some words to use for specific emotions. Keep on writing, Lindsey

Hey everyone!
In regards to the One Month Writing Challenge, due to lack of interest I will not be posting any topics. If anyone would like to participate, however, and have the chance to be published on the site you may still submit a story that is over 5,000 words. It can be on any topic. If we start building interest and getting submissions, I'll pick the contest back up. It really is a good way to practice your writing, especially since it is on a topic that you may not otherwise write about and provides a way to express yourself creatively in a completely different way than just coming up with a topic by yourselves. Hope to receive some entries! ~Lindsey I hope everyone has been enjoying the snow! I am a HUGE fan of snow and am loving it, as is my dog! We have at least eight and a half inches here! And Lucky and I have been having a blast playing outside. Stay safe everyone and drink tons of coco! These glorious snow days provide a perfect opportunity to work on your writing!
~Lindsey Hey guys! Today's #LRBHelpfultip is shown by the picture: The Three Stages of Editing. I found this on pintrest along with many more I will share later. It's pretty self explanatory if you look at the picture, but to sum it up you want to follow these when you are in your editing stage since this will help you accomplish the best edits possible. Instead of focusing on small details during your first stages of editing, focus on the big picture and save nitty picky details for the final stage. Check back next Friday for another #LRBHelpfultip! Keep on writing! Lindsey Having such a long break between my editing sessions on my book, has made me realize something; it's okay to take a break from what you're currently working on and begin another project. The reason I say this is because while editing my story now, it's been so long since I've read it that it has enabled me to see it with fresh eyes. I don't remember every detail the same way since I've had a few months since I last read it. I forget details or styles that I wrote in and when I re-read certain sections I'm filled with a sense of awe at my own writing. I am able to truly be immersed in my story again and become the characters I am reading about. This not only helps me to add in more detail and edit it in a way that I am able to see it objectively, but it also shows me that it is truly something I would want to read and keep reading if it were something I had picked up at a book store. That feeling is one that keeps me writing and keeps me excited about it. It gives me a renewed feeling of hope that my book will be a success. So, it is okay to take a break now and then and focus on another project for a little while in order to make the story become something new again.
~Lindsey Just like Diana Gabaldon told me, to be a great author you must read, write, don't stop. I've been working on my book for the past three days straight. Yesterday I spent an hour or more on just one paragraph. It's the little details that make a story one that is good to read. I spent nearly all day editing on Monday and it relaxed me and renewed my excitement for my work and trying to get it published. I needed to have a day devoted solely to my book. Today, I hope to get another five chapters edited, but it's not how many chapters I get done but how well I do it. Even if I only do one paragraph or one page all day, it will be one dang good page! So, please wish me luck as I continue to work away on making my book the best it can be!
Keep writing! Lindsey Hey guys! I've finally gotten some time to sit down and start working on my book again! It's nice. I'm sitting here drinking some tea, cuddling with my kitty, and working on my book. It's a nice break from reality to escape into the pages of my world and experience an epic romance for a while. I'm hoping to have another round of edits complete by the end of January! So don't forget to keep writing! ~Lindsey Hey everyone!
Don't forget to do the writing contest for this month! It ends in five days! If I don't get any entries, I will put the contest on hold for a while and try again in a few months. Keep on writing! Lindsey Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. I've been busy with family things since the semester ended, Christmas, and New Year's. I'll pick back up on regular postings next week. I hope everyone had a happy, happy New Year's and Christmas! Don't forget about this month's writing contest.
Keep on writing! Lindsey |
