Hey guys!
I wanted to give you all an update on the One Month Writing Challenge contest. I've changed the word count to a minimum of 1,000 words. If it's a little less that's fine, and if it's more that's fine too! I just want each of you to aim for 1,000 words at a minimum to work on your writing. I believe this will help you improve your writing. You can always enter any of your work for publication on the site as well. I will have a separate tab for submissions. I'll post the winner of each month's contest on my blog as well as under the tab for One Month Writing Challenge. I hope to receive some awesome entries! ~Lindsey Hey guys! I have officially uploaded something to my YouTube Channel. You can also view that video here. If you would like to subscribe to my YouTube Channel simple go to YouTube and look up Lindsey Rayner Barnes and you should find me! Or click here. More videos will most likely be posted this summer. ~Lindsey :) Hey guys! I've just finished working on a new project on the Shenandoah National Park! If you'd like to check it out go to The Shenandoah National Park! It's an interactive story. So, it's essentially like a story online where you go to the next chapter of the story by clicking on the picture or button at the bottom of the page. I hope you all enjoy it! I hope to post some more secondary projects here as they are completed. So stay tuned for more! ~Lindsey Hey guys!
Today's #LRBHelpfultip is to just let yourself write. Don't have any boundaries up and let your character decide where their life/story will take them. Don't have a set place where your character has to end up, start out with a general idea and let your character speak to you as you go along. This will create a compelling character who is defined in "their" own way. You can go through the fine edits and little details at a later stage in your writing, but for stage one let the character speak for themselves and let the story write itself. Let the creative juices flow and just enjoy the ride! ~Lindsey Hey guys!
If anyone wants to have some of their work published on my website, you can send me the work you want published and a statement of why you want it published, and I just might put it up! However, the best way to get your work published to my site is by entering my contest, One Month Writing Challenge, if you win you're guaranteed a spot on my website! For the rules on the contest click here. If you want to participate in this month's writing challenge, the deadline is May 14th! The topic is up to you! The next writing challenge will start May 14th and submissions will be due by June 14th! I will post a topic for that one on the 14th of May. If you want to suggest a topic, then send any and all suggestions to me via the Contact tab. If you just want to try and have something published on my site to dip your toe in the water of publication, then you can send that to me through the Contact tab as well. Hey guys! For today's #LRBHelpfultip is how to write a scary scene! I found this idea via Pintrest! To describe a scary scene, you need to describe how fear affects the body. When you're scared how do you feel? Really analyze how you feel and react. So, next time you're scared try to write down what happened and how you felt afterward. Some common ways to describe fear and your body's reaction are: tight chest, dry mouth, crawling skin, thudding heart, etc. If you have any good words, feel free to share them with the rest of us via the comments!
Keep on writing, Lindsey Hey guys! So today's #LRBHelpfultip is to write in a way where you lose yourself in your own story and can't stop writing since it's just that interesting. If you're interested in your work, chances are your readers will be too!
Happy writing! Lindsey |
