― Alexandre Dumas, The Count of Monte Cristo
This quote is something I found online after looking at a book I like titled, The Count of Monte Cristo. This quote, in particular stands out to me as a young writer. This is what we do. We wait and we hope. We wait to finish our books, short stories, etc. We hope we can find someone willing to publish our finished work. We then wait again while they review our work and tell us if it is good enough to be published. Then we hope yet again that their feedback will be kind and that they will like our idea enough to publish it. Let's say they do, then we wait again for their critiques on our work. We get them back and hope they aren't too hard on us and once we complete the necessary edits, we hope we have accomplished the edits they wanted. Then we wait again. We wait for them to say it is finished and ready to be published. Then we hope people like the book that we have poured so much time, energy, and love into. Then we wait to see the public's response to our work. And finally we hope some more.
It's a never ending cycle of waiting and hoping with our writing. But in the end, once we have accomplished what we set out to do and finished our writing, all of the waiting and hoping was all worth it.
