Hey guys! Sorry I've been so out of touch over the past couple of weeks, life has been CRAZY with finals and graduation. But, hey, I did it! I'm officially a college graduate!!! Woohoo!!! I'm very excited to see what life holds now that I'm a college graduate! Currently, I am working on my next article for Shenandoah Living Magazine! To keep up with all of my writing progress, make sure to follow me on Twitter! Now that things are beginning to calm down a bit, I'm going to pick up posting my #LRBHelpfultips and *mostly daily writing prompts. Depending on interest, I will continue my One Month Writing Challenge as well. If there are any questions you have that you'd like answered or any other suggestions for the contest, make sure to send me them via email! Like my favorite quote says, and like what a speaker at my graduation ceremony this past Saturday closed with: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." ~Eleanor Roosevelt So keep on believing in your dreams and your future will be yours for the taking! ~Lindsey Hey guys!
How many of you have a writing buddy?! They are an amazing thing to have since you not only get to geek out together over all things writing, but you can also swap your manuscripts to have a fresh pair of eyes look over your work and provide some awesome feedback/edits! Currently, I have two writing buddies - the multi-talented Morgan Vega and the soon-to-be-a-published novelist Sydney Scrogham. Since Sydney is so busy with the marketing and promotion of her book, we are not currently swapping chapters. However, we are meeting up this weekend to go riding and to work on our writing and discuss all things writing - including finding out some more about what she's learning and going through with the publication of her book, Chase. Morgan Vega and I are currently in the process of swapping three or so chapters each week to critique. And let me tell you, it is amazing! I have already gotten so many great comments that are helping me to make my novel even better, so that hopefully I can try and start the publishing process by the end of 2015! Wish me luck! If you haven't already found an awesome writing buddy, then you should get one! :) ~Lindsey This girl!
Well guys, it's official! I'm going to be getting an article I wrote published in a local magazine, Shenandoah Living Magazine!!! How exciting is that?! My first ever professional publication and first publication outside of my school's newspaper!!! I'll post more information about how you can read my published article and when it'll be available as I have it. I'll be posting an example query letter under the #LRBHelpfultips tab based on the one I sent for my article for anyone who would like a basis to go off of. Best of luck for any other writers sending out their first queries! ~Lindsey :D Hey guys! I'm sorry that this week's #LRBHelpfultips was late, I had a hectic weekend since it was my dad's birthday weekend and I went home to surprise him. This week's tip is now posted on my Twitter and on the the #LRBHelpfultips page. Enjoy and don't forget to email me with anything you'd like to know in regards to writing and I'll try and answer it! As all of you know, I'm an editor for my school's newspaper this year and was in a week long intensive camp of all things journalism. During the camp I made some great friendships and learned a lot about the reporting business. I also got to participate in a few ALS Ice Bucket Challenges, one of which is likely to wind up in the local newspaper. Due to this wide spread phenomenon for charity, we are also writing an article on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. During the camp we also did some fun things like bowling and a day trip do D.C. to go to the Newseum! This semester I'm enrolled in a creative writing class and we have to submit four pieces of our writing to have critiqued by the entire class. I've decided to have some chapters of my book critiqued and am very excited to read all of the comments so that I can improve my book and make it the best it can be to (hopefully) get it published soon! So wish me luck! I'm also going to be entering this Alice in Wonderland type of writing contest where the winners will be published, so wish me luck as I embark on a new story! Until next time and make sure to keep on following your dreams! Lindsey Hey guys! Sorry for not posting any #LRBHelpfultips for the past week or two. My computer is finally up and running again after months of no access to my own personal computer or my writing- at least with ease! I'm oh so thankful to have my computer back and to be able to truly work on my writing again! But due to all of the hassle with my computer, work, and family obligations I haven't had the time to post any writing tips. So now that I have my computer back, look for the writing tips again starting this Friday!
Until then, I hope you all have a wonderful week! Keep on writing, Lindsey It's a day late due to work, but it's up! I hope you enjoy this week's #LRBHelpfultip and don't forget to send in your questions and I'll answer them in an #LRBHelpfultip!
Keep on writing! Lindsey Hey guys,
I just wanted to apologize for the lack of updates to the #LRBHelpfultips segment. Between my computer breaking and getting rather sick shortly after arriving home for the summer, I have been rather distracted lately. However, I am on the mend and will resume posting #LRBHelpfultips this coming Friday. Keep on writing! ~Lindsey Hey guys! Don't forget that there is a new location for the #LRBHelpfultips segment! It now has it's own page located under the writing tab! Enjoy and keep on writing! Lindsey Hey guys!
I've decided to move the #LRBHelpfultips segment to its own page! You can now find it under the tab labeled "Writing". I will still post them to my Twitter and post new tips every Friday, they will simply have their own page now! Today's #LRBHelpfultip is that practice makes perfect. The more you practice something, like writing, the better you'll become! If you practice writing a little each day, whether it be in a diary, a little piece of a novel or short story, or by writing descriptions of the people you've seen and the places you've gone, you're sure to improve! A good way to do this in a fun way, is by entering my One Month Writing Challenge! Keep on writing, Lindsey |
