Hey guys!
Today I auditioned for The Nutcracker Ballet and am super excited to dance in it since I haven't had the chance to since I was six or seven and have always missed it. My ballet instructor even had me try on pointe shoes! I never thought I would get the chance to try pointe, and guess what?! I am! I'm beyond excited to start trying pointe! Most people say that once you hit your late teens or twenties, you're too old to dance. Well, I'm proving all of those people wrong! I'm not too old to try and do Ballet and I'm, apparently, not too old to try pointe for the first time! Wish me luck everyone and follow your passion! Lindsey

Hey guys,
Despite the fact that I'm posting this two days late, I just wanted to write something in memory of that tragic even that happened thirteen years ago on September 11th. Despite the fact that I was only in third grade, I still remember that day vividly. I didn't fully understand what had happened for a while, but I knew that it was bad, and I knew that I was very grateful that my mom - who worked only two blocks from the Capitol, at the time - had broken her leg the day before and was not in D.C. that day. I can still remember watching on tv as the North Tower crumbled, and seeing images of people jumping from windows because they knew they were going to die. Seeing the plane crash into the second tower, that for many is when we knew it was not an accident. September 11th is a day that I will always remember and will always bring tears to my eyes. Remembering how happy I was when I got off the bus and saw my mom, on crutches, waiting for me at the front door, I also remember how tragic it was for many families throughout the United States. That day was horrific and lead to a stream of events that are still going on today. It was the first major terrorist attack on U.S. soil and killed nearly 3,000 people. I still remember sitting on the bus with one of my friends on our way to school and talking about how grateful that our parents were not in D.C. that day. Her dad worked in the Pentagon, and for some reason wasn't there that day. Always be grateful for your loved ones, since you never know what can happen. Something that devastating, was not expe September 11, 2001 is a tragic day and one that I will never forget. So, this is to remember how grateful I was that my mom wasn't in D.C. that day and to remember all of those who died. Hey guys! I'm sorry that this week's #LRBHelpfultips was late, I had a hectic weekend since it was my dad's birthday weekend and I went home to surprise him. This week's tip is now posted on my Twitter and on the the #LRBHelpfultips page. Enjoy and don't forget to email me with anything you'd like to know in regards to writing and I'll try and answer it! As all of you know, I'm an editor for my school's newspaper this year and was in a week long intensive camp of all things journalism. During the camp I made some great friendships and learned a lot about the reporting business. I also got to participate in a few ALS Ice Bucket Challenges, one of which is likely to wind up in the local newspaper. Due to this wide spread phenomenon for charity, we are also writing an article on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. During the camp we also did some fun things like bowling and a day trip do D.C. to go to the Newseum! This semester I'm enrolled in a creative writing class and we have to submit four pieces of our writing to have critiqued by the entire class. I've decided to have some chapters of my book critiqued and am very excited to read all of the comments so that I can improve my book and make it the best it can be to (hopefully) get it published soon! So wish me luck! I'm also going to be entering this Alice in Wonderland type of writing contest where the winners will be published, so wish me luck as I embark on a new story! Until next time and make sure to keep on following your dreams! Lindsey |
