Hey everyone! I have decided to help all of you keep those creative juices flowing and to provide an opportunity for some of you to get recognition or a publication, if only on my website. If this is something that spikes interest, then I will make it a regular thing- every month or every other month. So, here are the rules:
All submissions will be accepted via the contact tab. First place will be published on my website on the tab labeled One Month Writing Challenge. Second, third, and fourth place will get a shout out on my twitter and blog. I'm hoping that this will be a popular new segment and that many people will see the benefit to working on a different topic each month and sending it to me in hopes of publication. I know my website is not the most public of publications, but it is a start to your writing career. By participating in this contest, you will be working on your writing with a specific word count and deadline that will help to broaden your ability to write anything with increasingly better quality. The more you write, the better your writing will become. By challenging yourself to write a certain amount by a certain time on a specific topic will also help you with your writing in general. The first place winner will also get a shout out on my twitter page. The follow more up to date posts on the contest, follow me on twitter. I will use the #onemonthwritingchallenge. The topic will be posted by the end of the previous contest. That means the 14th of each month.
Send in any ideas you have for the first topic by November 14th! I lo Keep on writing! ~Lindsey Hey guys! I don't know about you, but having my favorite author respond to a tweet I sent asking for any advice for writing for my #LRBHelpfultips segment, is AMAZING! And being mentioned in another tweet by one of her fans who saw our tweets, is pretty cool too! I've already retweeted and posted her tips on my twitter account with #LRBHelpfultips. So, today's tip from Diana Gabaldon, author of the Outlander series: 1. Read. 2. Write. 3. Don't stop!! Keep checking back for more updates and don't forget to send in any questions you have! Hey guys!
Last post of the evening. I just wanted to put out there that if anyone has anything specific that they would like addressed with #LRBHelpfultips, please don't hesitate to send me an email via the contact page. I'll be more than happy to try and answer any questions you guys have! ~Lindsey Hey everyone! I know I've posted a lot tonight. I have to make up for my absence for the past month somehow, right? I just thought I'd share with you all that I've had an article written in response to my first article that I wrote for my school newspaper, Veritas. Check it out if you'd like! All exposure is good in the writing world!
Keep on writing! ~Lindsey Hey guys! Sorry it's been so long since I've written and added to #LRBHelpfultips, I've been crazy busy with classes, mid-terms, and writing articles for my school newspaper. Which is actually pretty exciting since I'm getting my work published even though it's only for my school newspaper- Veritas. My professor for the class I write for says that I may even be able to sell some of my articles! So, today's helpful tip is: Attend as many writing conferences and workshops as possible since this will help to add to your skill level. It will also help you learn new techniques and styles while building your contacts in the writing world (as well as your writing resume). The picture is of me reading an excerpt from the book I'm working on, The Silver Locket, at Hood Young Writer's Conference in Frederick, Maryland. This was the first conference I attended and was back during the summer of 2010 if I remember correctly. It was well worth it to get all of the wonderful information and meet the amazing people, many of whom I am still friends with today. Check out my Twitter for more up to date tips. Keep on writing! ~Lindsey |
