Don't forget: if you have a dream you can't seem to stop thinking about, write it down. It could turn out to be yo
Hey guys! So I know it's late, but I just had another idea for a book! I love it when I have a dream and I just can't get it out of my mind. Whenever that happens, I wind up just having to write it down because I keep thinking about it and expanding it and eventually it becomes a mini story in my head. If I can't stop "turning the page" of this story, why not put it down on paper so that I can share it with the world and get a chance to fully explore it and see where it takes me? I'm really excited about this new idea and where it could take me. So far I've only done the basic outline so that I can get my general thoughts on it down, but I'll keep thinking about it and once I finish the edits for The Silver Locket I'll start work on this one... or one of the other ones I've started! There's too many to count from. I'll have to see which one I'm feeling once I'm done with the edits for the one I'm on now. An exciting thing about the idea I've just come up with, is that it's pretty different from what I usually write. So, wish me luck on the rest of the edits for The Silver Locket and for starting a new project, possibly the one I've just created, once I'm done!

Hey guys! One of the best tips Kathryn Erskine gave at her lecture the other night, was to be your character. So, in other words, instead of just writing about your character and their life, go out and do the things that they do and LIVE their life. That way you actually know what it feels like to scale walls or the creep in the shadows to avoid capture. Knowing how it feels will enable you to explain it in the best possible way which, in turn, will provide your reader with the chance to experience it for themselves. Make it seem as if they are there themselves. If you can do that with your writing, then you are truly great. Bring each and every word to life.
Hey guys! Tonight I got to meet Kathryn Erskine! She's an author of young adult fiction. And it was truly an honor to meet her! I now have my first officially autographed books! All of the other autographs I have are either on sheets of paper or posters, so I'm pretty excited! She was so nice and had so many helpful tips! How many of you remember when I told you to write down character descriptions of people you see and find interesting so that you can use them in your writing in an #LRBHelpfultip? She told us that as well. She told us how she will live the life of her character so that she can better describe it in her writing. How cool is that?! If you've experienced it, you know how it feels and so you can describe it in the best way possible and enable your reader to feel it and "experience" it as well! I'll post some more of her tips in the weekly #LRBHelpfultips every Friday! Look this Friday for some more on what I learned during a lecture with Kathryn Erskine! She was a very kind and easy to talk to woman. If you would like to learn more about her, visit her website here. Keep on writing! Lindsey Hey guys!
So I've had some interest in the one month writing challenge and so I thought I'd put a topic up for anyone who wants to enter! The contest will usually begin and end on the 14th of the month, but since I want to be able to have a topic to coincide with Easter and just not received some interest in it, I thought we'd switch things up this month. This month's topic: Anything to do with Easter. Don't forget to be creative! Being creative with the topic and how you use the topic In case you forgot the rules, here they are again:
I look forward to reading your submissions! Lindsey Hey guys! Today's #LRBHelpfultip is to never use the passive when you can use the active. The active is much more engaging for the reader and will keep the tension and the interest of your reader.
Keep on writing! Lindsey Hey guys! So a friend of mine just told me that Amtrak is now accepting applications for the writer's residency! If you're interested check it out here.
Good luck to all who apply! I know I am. :) Lindsey Hey guys!
I just read an article about Writer's Residency on Amtrak. I'm not entirely sure how likely it is that this will happen wide spread, but essentially you go on a round trip ride on Amtrak and just write! How cool is that?! It would be a pretty amazing experience getting to do something like that and work on my novel, especially since I love to travel and incorporate places I've been into my novel! Check it out here. Well, fellow writers, let's hope this happens and we can do a writer's residency with Amtrak and just write and travel. Another part I forgot to mention... it's FREE! Check it out for yourselves and let me know what you think! Let's keep our fingers crossed that this happens! Keep on writing, Lindsey Hey everyone! I hope you all are having a wonderful and lucky St. Patrick's Day! Mine will be filled with snow, good friends, and Corn Beef and Cabbage!
Sláinte! Lindsey Hey guys! Today's #LRBHelpfulhint is to make sure you back up all of your work on a regular basis! I did that today to ensure that if anything happens to my computer, I won't lose all of the work I've been working on for the past five years. So, make sure you back up your work multiple times on multiple devices just in case!
Keep on writing! Lindsey Today's #LRBHelpfultip is, as Stephen King states, "an opening line should invite the reader to begin the story. It should say: Listen. Come in here. You want to know about this." Without a good hook, your reader will not continue to read your story. Would you read a story that bored you from page one and didn't become interesting until chapter five? So make sure you spend a lot of time on the opening lines so that your reader will want to keep reading!
